Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple popularly known as Kondagattu Hanuman Temple is located around 35 kms away from Karimnagar in the beautiful surroundings providing a scenic advantage to the place. The presiding deity at the temple is Lord Hanuman also known as Anjaneya Swamy. The temple is one of the ancient temples in the Karimnagar district and in the state. The temple is associated with some legends relating to ancient times. One such legend dates back to an era around 500 years back. Around this time, a group of shepherds led by Singala Swamiji found the statue of Lord Anjaneya. The same group of shepherds later built a temple for the Lord at the same location where the statue was discovered. The temple was also constructed under the leadership and guidance of Singala Swamiji. Later Krishna Rao Deshmukh gave the existing shape to the temple after reconstruction and renovation.

There are many beliefs that do the rounds here. One such belief is that if a childless woman prays in the temple with complete faith for 40 days, she would definitely be blessed with a child. The land is a respected land and the temple as such is much popular amongst the people in Telangana. This ancient temple is also popular by the name ‘Kondagattu Anjanna Temple’. It attracts devotees from all corners of Telangana. People visit the temple in the hope of getting their wishes fulfilled. Hanuman Jayanti is the day when the temple is packed to its full capacity. Devotees adore the saffron-coloured dresses during Hanuman Jayanti. The Kondagattu Hanuman Temple becomes the most sought after tourist place during the Hanuman Jayanti as well. The Dharmagundam or the holy water tank present in the temple premises is also very famous. Devotees take dip in the tank before visiting the temple. The ‘Hanuman Deeksha Mala’ is also famous mostly amongst the youth who celebrate it for a period of 41 days during the Hanuman Jayanti while doing Padayatra or walking. More than 4 lakh people visit the temple during the festival.

The walls of the Sri Anjaneya Temple are decorated with sculptures of Gods and Goddesses. The entrance of the temple has 16 pillared porches. The three presiding deities of the temple Lord Sri Venkateshwara, Lord Sri Anjaneya, and Goddess Lakshmidevi grace the three inner chambers of the temple. The temple has been a witness to the history and culture of Telangana.

Sri Anjaneya Swamy was born on Vaisakha Month, Krishna paksha Saturday Purvabhadra Nakshatra. So on Vaisakha Month Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in a grand manner. Here one more birthday is also celebrated to Lord Hanuman as per the North Indian calendar on Chaitra Pournami. People call it as Chinna Hanuman Jayanti and Pedda Hanuman Jayanti. All Hindu Festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
