Sri Jagatheswara temple is situated in Manamelkudi, Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu at a distance of 60 kms from Pudukottai. The presiding deity is Jagadeesvarar and the goddess is known as Jagatrakshahi. Mahikalampoo, Arasu and Vilva trees are found in this Shiva temple. Pradosha is performed for Lord Shiva in a grand manner.
One of the 63 Nayanars, Kulachirai Nayanar worshipped the deity in this temple. Devotees visit this temple to getting married and to beget children. Separate shrines are there for Sri Ganesh, Sri Dakshinamurthy, Lord Muruga, Kulachirai Nayanar, Gnanasambandar, Nindraseer Nedumarar, Navagraham and Mangayarkkarasiyar.
One can find the name of Manamelkudi in Ramayana. It is told that Lord Rama attempted to cross the Bay of Bengal to reach Sri Lanka from India from three points along the southeastern strip of the Indian coast.
