Buchireddypalem Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple Timings, History

The Sri Kodanda RamaSwamy Temple was built by the Dodla family in 1784 A.D., is also a notable feature of Buchireddipalem. On every Pournami (Full moon) day Annadanam is held in this temple by Sri Kodandarama Swamy Charitable Trust since early 2002. This is an ancient Sri Rama temple located in Buchireddypalem, Nellore District, Andhrapradesh.

Annual Bramhotsavams held starting from Ram Navami day are major festivities for this town. Sita Ramula kalyanam on Chaturdasi day is a major draw among the women devotees who attend in large numbers. Rathotsavam held on the Pournami day attracts huge crowds pulling the Temple Car (Ratham) amidst chants of ‘Jai Sriram’in its designated route back to its starting point. Float Festival (Teppotsavam) held on the same day evening is a treat to the eye.

Nellore Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple History:

This temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Rama along with his consort Sita Devi. This temple was built in the 17th century in a large area of about 1.25 acers of land. Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Buchireddypalem is having many more specialties than any other Kodandarama Swamy temple in Andhra Pradesh. The Rajagopura of this temple is about 100 ft in height with great architecture. The Dwajasthamba of this temple is 50 ft in height. In every temple, Goddess Sita Devi is on the left side of Lord Srirama in Garbhalaya, but in this temple, Goddess Sita Devi is on the Right side of Lord in Garbhalaya. Because of Goddess Sita Devi’s presence on the Right side of Lord Srirama in this temple, worshipping the goddess in this temple will cause wealth and Moksha in one’s life. According to Vasthu Sasthra Pushkarini (Koneru) is located on the Northern side of the temple but in this temple, Pushkarini is Southside to the temple. It is said by the elders that this temple was constructed according to Dakshinaadi Vasthu and also all the pujas are done according to Dakshina Sampradaya. Here every year Brahmotsavams are held on Sri Rama Navami day. Also, there is a shrine for Chaturbhuja Lakshmi Ammavaru along with Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Andal Ammavaru.
