3-04-2016, Tirupati: On Sunday Pushpayagam the annual floral festival was celebrated in Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram.

Utsava Murthies were seated on a fully decorated mandapam after Snapana tirumanjanam was performed with tonnes of different varieties of flowers on the religious fete.

Pushpayagam History: This is a 15th century festival which is restarted by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam from 1980. This Festival is celebrated after the Yearly Brahmotsavam festival of the respective temple. This is a festival to purify the daiety ritual to the omissions and commissions carried out both knowingly or unknowingly by the temple priests, Temple officers and even pilgrims.

More than 5 tonnes flowers have been used to offer floral bath to the deities.
