About Shani Shingnapur Temple:

Shani Shingnapur Temple is a popular Shani Deva Temple situated at Shingnapur, Nevasa taluk, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra. This means a ‘self-evolved deity. The Hindu God symbolizing the planet Saturn (grah) and the presiding deity here ‘Swayambhu’ emerged himself in the form of the black stone. Saturdays, Amavasya, and Shri Shaneshchar Jayanti are the holiest days.

Worshipers believe that the Shani Shingnapur temple is a “Jagrut Devasthan” which translates to “alive temple”, which means that the deity still resides in the black stone to date. Lord Shani’s idol is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 1 foot 6 inches wide. There is no premise for the idol Shani Dev. This idol is open to the sky on a square marble without holding a roof.

A Trishula (trident) is positioned on one side of the image, and an image of Nandi (bull) is placed on the south side. The temple is believed a ‘Jagrut devasthan,’ signifying the presence of a deity residing in the temple.

Amavasya (No moon day) is considered holy for the Shani Puja. Special Pooja is performed on Shani Trayodasi, Sani Deva’s birthday. This Sani temple remains open on all days. 12:00 AM – 12:00 AM
