Shree Swaminarayan Temple History:
This temple of Itasca, Illinois, is the first Sikharbandh Swaminarayan Mandir in the United States. The abhishek was interpreted by His Holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendraprasadji Maharajshree.
Satsang in the Midwest area began in 1978 with the first visit of His Holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendrapadadji Maharaj to Chicago, Illinois.
With no more than 5 families in complete submission to His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree, the vision has been established to build a temple for spiritual aspirants in the third largest city in America. Years have passed with this vision in the heart of the growing number of Satsangi families in the Midwest region. After twenty years of the first visit of His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree, the dream of building a Swaminarayan Mandir Shikhar-bandh (Authentic Dome) is fulfilled majestically, with the grace of God and the altruistic devotion of many volunteers.
Today, the Mandir is a milestone in the Indian community for countless families in the Midwest. Weekly spiritual sessions and daily sermons have left an indelible mark on the lives of many. In addition, the facilities offer the possibility of cultural and social activities, such as weddings, fundraisers and banquets, which will be included with our auspicious aura Mandir.
The idol ceremony in the temple was celebrated with great splendor in the presence of thousands of people from all over the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and India.
To this day, the devotees of all denominations, including Catholics, Muslims and Buddhists, come for the divine darshan of Lord Swaminarayan.
