The devotional hymn Sri Hanuman Chalisa features Sri Hanuman as the ideal follower. It is a poem in the Awadhi language that Goswami Tulsidas wrote. Given that the Hanuman Chalisa has 40 verses, the name “chalisa” is derived from the Hindi word “chalis,” which means “40.” We have posted a verse-by-verse English translation of the Hanuman Chalisa on this website.
