Sri Venkateswara Gow Samrakshana Shala Annual Gow Mahotsavam on 16 January 2020

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam plans to conduct Gow Mahotsavam at the Sri Venkateswara Gow Samrakshana Shala, as per annual practice, on the Kanuma festival, which occurs on a day after Sankranthi festival.

The cow has a distinct place in Indian culture and is worshipped as Gomata by large Indian population. On a day after Sankranthi Gow is decorated colorfully with flowers and turmeric paste with belief that it brings good harvest.

Gow puja celebrations will commence on January 16 at 6am with Venu ganam and Veda Parayanam followed by the bhajana and sankeertans by artists of Dasa Sahitya Project and Annamacharya Project of TTD

Later on festivities including Gow puja, Gaja puja and Aswa puja, Tulasi puja and Basavanna dance will entertain the scores of local who take part in this fete with their children.
