Kumaragiri Subramanya Swamy Temple is a famous Kartikeya Temple located in Javsai Village, Thane, Maharashtra State. The Shree Subramanya mission was founded by some of Lord Murugan’s South Indian devotees who worked at the Ambernath artillery factory in 1963. Panguni Utthiram was celebrated annually on the artillery estate in a grand manner.
Over the years it was estimated that there was a temple for Lord Subramanyam, many places were searched for the temple and finally, the Kumaragiri, a small hillock with a beautiful background was selected and a 1-acre land was acquired by deed of sale registered in 1986-87. Subsequently, funds were raised from Lord Murugan devotees in Ambernath and the surrounding area. Construction work began in 1989 and the main temple was built. Lord Ganesha, Shree Subramanya (Karthik) Swamy with his consorts Valli and Devyani idols were brought from Mahabalipuram (Tamilnadu) and installed.
Kumaragiri Subramanya Swamy Temple is surrounded by greenery, the adjacent lake adds beauty to the views. Many Devotees visit this Kartikeya temple on festivals like Karthigai, Sashti, Pradosham, Pournami, Vaigasi Vishagam, Karthik Purnima, Panguni Uttiram and Thai Poosam.
