The temple is one of the most important pilgrimage centers of Maharashtra & Karnataka. You must visit it once.

The current temple is built around the famous banyan tree. It is the same banyan tree where Shri Swami Maharaj used to sit to meditate and preach to the disciples. The temple consists of the main temple, sabha mandap and accommodation. The temple authorities organize Annacchatra (free meals for devotees) daily (twice a day). Datta is forty years old, of which he spent 21 years in Akkalkot.

Historically, Shri.Swami Maharaj ended his avatar in Shake 1800. But after three months he was resurrected and appeared before devotees in Kashi (Varanasi). The Holy Samadhi of Shri. Swamiji is located in the house of Shri. Cholappa in the place already reserved for him before his bodily death. This is known as Samadhimath. The fearless spiritual slogan in Marathi ‘BHIU NAKOS MI TUJHYA PATHISHI AAHE’ (Do not be afraid, I am with you) is given by Shri. Samarth Swami Maharaj himself.
