Bhadrachalam Yogananda Narasimha Temple History:
Bhadrachalam is a pilgrimage point, not only for the Indians but for the whole world, because it is the home of Lord Sri Rama. Bhadrachalam’s kshetrapuranam is described in Brahmanda puranam. The presiding deity is Sri Rama with the goddess Sita on his lap and Lakshma on his left side. Her Goddess Lakshmi is Moksha Lakshmi. The temple follows Pancharatra Agama.
The least known fact is that Kshetra palaka is Yogananda Narasimha Swamy who shares Bhadragiri himself. The vigraha of the Lord is not made by man. It is believed that Narasimha Swamy could have come here at the request of wise men or gods. In earlier days, from Bhadrachalam to Rajamundry, the transport route was on the Godavari river. At one point, the ships could not advance on the peaceful river. And once these boats are stopped, loud voices are heard that resound in the hills and valleys.
It was only after offering a small pooja that these ships moved. However, there were no reports of damage or accidents. The Local people’s wanted to know why this was happening, researchers with a research mindset employed ace swimmers searched the area. They found Lord Narasimha’s statue inside the water.
As he shouted to be heard – In colloquial Telugu bobbalu pettadam this Narasimha is also known as Bobbala Narasimha. The lord is in a Yoga posture, but he was found with the Lakshmi pendant. He is worshipped as Yogananda Jwala Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy. He is beautiful and praying to him, visiting him and pradakshina are known to bestow health, children for issueless, health and prosperity.
