॥ କୌପୀନ ପଂଚକଂ (ଶଂକରାଚାର୍ୟ) ॥
କୌପୀନ ପଂଚକମ୍
Five Stanzas on the wearer of loin-cloth
ଵେଦାନ୍ତଵାକ୍ୟେଷୁ ସଦା ରମନ୍ତୋ
ଭିକ୍ଷାନ୍ନମାତ୍ରେଣ ଚ ତୁଷ୍ଟିମନ୍ତଃ ।
ଵିଶୋକମନ୍ତଃକରଣେ ଚରନ୍ତଃ
କୌପୀନଵନ୍ତଃ ଖଲୁ ଭାଗ୍ୟଵନ୍ତଃ ॥ ୧॥
Roaming ever in the grove of Vedanta,
Ever pleased with his beggar’s morsel,
Wandering onward, his heart free from sorrow,
Blest indeed is the wearer of the loin-cloth . (1)
ମୂଲଂ ତରୋଃ କେଵଲମାଶ୍ରୟନ୍ତଃ
ପାଣିଦ୍ଵୟଂ ଭୋକ୍ତୁମମନ୍ତ୍ରୟନ୍ତଃ ।
କନ୍ଥାମିଵ ଶ୍ରୀମପି କୁତ୍ସୟନ୍ତଃ
କୌପୀନଵନ୍ତଃ ଖଲୁ ଭାଗ୍ୟଵନ୍ତଃ ॥ ୨॥
Sitting at the foot of a tree for shelter,
Eating from his hands his meagre portion,
Spurning wealth like a patched-up garment,
Blest indeed is the wearer of the loin-cloth . (2)
ସ୍ଵାନନ୍ଦଭାଵେ ପରିତୁଷ୍ଟିମନ୍ତଃ
ସୁଶାନ୍ତସର୍ଵେନ୍ଦ୍ରିୟଵୃତ୍ତିମନ୍ତଃ ।
ଅହର୍ନିଶଂ ବ୍ରହ୍ମସୁଖେ ରମନ୍ତଃ
କୌପୀନଵନ୍ତଃ ଖଲୁ ଭାଗ୍ୟଵନ୍ତଃ ॥ ୩॥
Satisfied fully by the Bliss within him,
Curbing wholly the cravings of his senses,
Delighting day and night in the bliss of Brahman,
Blest indeed is the wearer of the loin-cloth . (3)
ଦେହାଦିଭାଵଂ ପରିଵର୍ତୟନ୍ତଃ
ସ୍ଵାତ୍ମାନମାତ୍ମନ୍ୟଵଲୋକୟନ୍ତଃ ।
ନାନ୍ତଂ ନ ମଧ୍ୟଂ ନ ବହିଃ ସ୍ମରନ୍ତଃ
କୌପୀନଵନ୍ତଃ ଖଲୁ ଭାଗ୍ୟଵନ୍ତଃ ॥ ୪॥
Witnessing the changes of mind and body,
Naught but the Self within him beholding,
Heedless of outer, of inner, of middle,
Blest indeed is the wearer of the loin-cloth . (4)
ବ୍ରହ୍ମାକ୍ଷରଂ ପାଵନମୁଚ୍ଚରନ୍ତୋ
ବ୍ରହ୍ମାହମସ୍ମୀତି ଵିଭାଵୟନ୍ତଃ ।
ଭିକ୍ଷାଶିନୋ ଦିକ୍ଷୁ ପରିଭ୍ରମନ୍ତଃ
କୌପୀନଵନ୍ତଃ ଖଲୁ ଭାଗ୍ୟଵନ୍ତଃ ॥ ୫॥
Chanting Brahman, the word of redemption,
Meditating only on `I am Brahman’,
Living on alms and wandering freely,
Blest indeed is the wearer of the loin-cloth . (5)
॥ ଇତି ଶ୍ରୀମଦ୍ ଶଙ୍କରାଚାର୍ୟକୃତ କୌପୀନ ପଞ୍ଚକଂ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣମ୍ ॥
