Kolar Chikka Tirupati History:
The legend goes back to Dwapara Yuga, Agni Deva had severe stomach pain after accepting ghee for 100 years in a row. He then prayed to Lord Brahma for the remedy. Brahma suggested performing Kandava Dahanam because the forest has natural herbs. Agni took a step back when Indra’s friend Takshak lived in this forest with his family. Then he approached Lord Krishna and Arjuna, who offered him protection. With their help, Agni got up and burned the forest. Indra tried to defend the serpent Takshak, but all his efforts were in vain. Takshak, who came out with minor injuries, cursed Agni to lose his divinity. Agni then prayed to Lord Siva for help. Lord Siva suggested doing penance for Sri Vishnu. Agni freed himself from the curse and installed Lord Vishnu and named the diety Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy.
