Prasanna Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple is a famous Hindu Temple located in Ramanathapura, Arakalgud Taluk, Hassan District, Karnataka. Lord Subramanya Swamy is the presiding deity in this temple. Ramanathapura town is set on River Cauvery and is also called “Dakshina Kashi” or Kashi of the South town and also an important pilgrimage centre. There are many temples in Ramanathapura. Hence, Ramanathapura is also termed as “TOWN OF TEMPLES”

Devotees believe that all their sins will be washed away after taking a holy bath in the Cauvery River and performing rituals in the temple. Thousands of devotees visit the temple during the Car Festival (Rathotsava) in December and January.

Prasanna Subramanya Temple History:

To spread the Madhva philosophy, the twenty-first Swamiji of mutt, Sri Sri Sri Vibhudesha Theertharu, began traveling to Coorg. During this tour, he established the Sri Subramanya Temple at Sorlabbi. He then visited Ramanathapura and stayed there for meditation and pooja. After completing his pooja and meditation, he stayed at “Sankranthi Mantapa”. As he slept at night, Sri Subramanya Swamy appeared in his dream and ordered the construction of a temple. At the same time, Sri Subramanya Swamy appeared in the dream of King Narasappa Nayaka of Holenarasipura. The god ordered him to give all the support and cooperation needed to establish the temple with the safety of a male boy.
