Ram Aarti is the devotional song sung in praise of Lord Ram. Generally, Ram Aarti is sung at the end of the puja or religious rituals. The word “Aarti” has been derived from two Sanskrit words: “Aa” and “Rati”. Here, the Sanskrit word “Aa” means “to or towards”. The Sankrit word “Rati” means “virtues or good qualities”. Hence, Ram Aarti literally means the song sung praising the virtues of Lord Ram.
Ram Aarti is sung as a communal gathering in temples. People who prefer offering their prayers at home also sing Ram Aarti at home. Ram Aarti is an age old religious tradition followed by Lord Ram’s devotees through centuries.
