Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy TempleAdilabad district is a house of many religious places that attract the pious from far. One of them is the Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy Temple, which has been deeply engraved in the minds of the tourists who visit Adilabad. This temple is located on the banks of the Godavari river that borders Adilabad and Karimnagar districts. The reigning deity of this temple is Sri Satyanarayana Swamy, the God of truth. This temple is situated in a village called Gudem, which is about 40 km from Mancherial city of Adilabad district. The temple has gained a lot of importance in Telangana since it was opened, due to the presence of Lord Satyanarayana Swamy. The people of Telangana treat this temple in the same way as one of the most famous and ancient religious temples of the country, the Annavaram Devasthanam.

This temple, also known as the Annavaram of Telangana, has the highest devotees visiting during the Karthika Masam. Every year during this time, which is October-November as per the English calendar, devotees pour in to Gudem to take a dip in the holy Godavari, perform puja and make offerings at this temple. Devotees perform ‘Satya Narayana Vrathams’, which is a special ceremony to show their devotion, followed by many other rituals which constitute a part of the auspicious occasion.
The Vrathams form a part of the daily ceremonies for many devotees visiting this temple. The number of devotees reaches a peak on every full moon day as thousands of religious followers of Lord Satyadev gather together to be a part of various rituals.

This temple also has The Lord Ayyappa Abhinava Shabarimala temple, which is built similar to the great Ayyappa temple of Sabarimala in Kerala. This is also considered to be one of the most popular temples in the north Telangana region, as devotees who cannot travel to Kerala to offer their prayers, can fulfill their desires by worshipping Lord Ayyappa here in Gudem.

This Gudem village is surrounded by holy shrines. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple on the other side of the Godavari in Karimnagar district, is also frequently visited by tourists. A low level bridge in Rayapatnam, 3 km from Gudem connects both the Sri Satyanarayan Swamy Temple and the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temples to each other. Devotees can visit bothe these places by crossing this bridge.

This Sri Satyanarayan Swamy Temple has many opportunities of developing its facilities to become a enjoyable place for pilgrims. The construction of lodges and various other facilities for tourists are yet to be taken up. How to reach Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy Temple:
Gudem can be easily visited by road and rail from Hyderabad as it is only 226 km away from Hyderabad. State buses are available from Hyderabad to Mancherial. Gudem is only 33 km away from Mancherial. Also, plenty of buses run from Mancherial and Karimnagar to Gudem.

Train route: Mancherial can also be reached by train and buses can be taken from there to Gudem. The Gudem Gutta, located in Adilabad district at a distance of 61 kms from the neighboring district of Karimnagar is easily reached by road. It can also be reached from Rayapatnam (3kms), Luxettipet (7kms) and from Mancherial (32kms).
