Polatala Sri Malleshwara Swamy Temple History:
There are several legends associated with the Malleswara Swamy temple at Polathala.
It is believed that while Sri Rama and Lakshmana were searching for Sita they reached this place, took bath in the Koneru River and had the divine darshan of Lord Siva who was presided on this hillock.
As per Mahabharata, when the Pandavas were living in the forests during their exile, Arjuna performed Pooja to Sri Malleswara Swamy at this place.
Sivaratri Festival is celebrated in a grand scale at the Malleswara Swamy temple. Mondays and Fridays are considered auspicious days when there will be a large flow of pilgrims to this temple.
Thousands of tourists and pilgrims visit this place during the summer and winter vacations. Located on a beautiful hillock with picturesque surrounding, it attracts all kinds of people who want to relax some time as a relief from their hectic city life.
