Narasimha Swamy Temple in Seebi / Sibi is located in Tukkur Taluk in Tumkur district, Karnataka. Seebi is located on national Highway 4, just 20 km north of the town of Tumkur. Narasimha Swamy is the presiding deity Narasimha Swamy in shaligrama roopam along with consorts Mahalakshmi and Chenchulakshmi.

A Water Tank called Gaja Pushkarini is near the temple. puranas says that the Gajendra Moksha episode happened here. Goddes Lokamba devi resides in the prakara of the temple. There is a strong belief that if unmarried boys and girls performes a kalyanostavam to Lokamba devi, she bestows a spouse very fast. Walls and ceilings are bountifully covered by paintings. While a majority of the paintings are in a sad state of affairs some still carry the tinge of delicacy and softness. Paintings, which can be called historical, have themes of Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Dashavatara and are very similar to paintings in Daria Daulat Bagh, Srirangapatna.

Seebi Narasimha Swamy Temple History:

Seebi was the vanaprastra ashram of Shibi Chakravarthy, the grandson of bhakta Prahlad for whom Narasimha appeared in person to kill his Demon father Hiranyakashipu. Shibi Chakravarthy wanted to worship Lord Narasimha and in return Lord Narasimha enshrined himself here as Narasimha Shaligrama. He is shaped larger than a linga and faces northeast in this temple. There are no visual of Narasimha Swamy and it is the shaligrama that is adored. Subsequently, this Shaligrama was also worshiped by Lord Sri Rama, for begetting issues. It is also said that Chandrahasa, then king of Kuntala, also worshiped Narasimha Shaligrama to remove obstacles.

Narasimha Swamy Temple, Seebi

In 1797, in the old state of Mysore, Fauzdar Nallapa, a Fauzdar Brahmin in Mummudi Krishna Raja Wodeyar, intended to build a temple in memory of his mother and his father Kacheri Krishniah. Narasimha swamy appeared in a dream to Nallappa and told him to build a temple and worship him in Seebi, since he was not worshiped. The construction of the temple took 10 years to complete. The temple is painted with themes of Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Dashavatara which have eroded over time.
