Bikkavolu Subramanya Swamy Temple or Bikkavolu Golingeswara Swamy or Kumara Subrahmanyeswara Swamy Temple is located in a village called Bikkavolu, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh State. The temple is 29 km from Kakinada, 40 km from Rajahmundry and 49.5 km from Amalapuram. There are two separate shrines for Sri Gopaleswara Swamy in linga form with his consort Goddess Parvati and Sri Kumara Swamy. There are also Chalukyan-style Shiva lingam and Nandi in the temple courtyard. In front of the complex is another temple dedicated to Laxmi Ganapathi.
In the past, this place was named Birudamkitta Puram. There was a big tunnel connecting Peddapuram Fort and this temple. The British called this underground tunnel the Big Hole, which later became present-day Bikkavolu.
Idols of Vishnu, Agni Dev, Indra, Kumara Swamy, Nagini, Brahma, Chamundi and many other idols were carved on the temple walls. The front portion of Mukha Mantap was built in 1964 AD. One more Mantap was built in the year 1966 AD. Chalukya Nandi Idols were recovered during excavation. And these idols were arranged in a row at Mukha Mantap, in the middle of which a bronze Idol of Horse was placed.
There are 3 other shrines in the temple complex out of which Sri Raja Rajeswari Temple and Sri Chandrasekara were popular. The idol inside the Sanctum Sanctorum is made of black granite. This temple is 1200 years old.
Since the deity here in the temple faces south, worshiping the deity will reduce the evil effects of Kuja and Rahu Dosha.

Evening: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Abhishekam Timings: 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Daily).
The crowd will be high on Mondays, Tuesdays and Festival days.
Bikkavolu Subramanya Swamy Temple Poojas:
Panchamrutha Abhishekam will be performed to the deity every Tuesday.
The five-day annual festival will be celebrated during Subramanya Sasti.
Naga Dosha Pooja will be performed.
Bikkavolu Subramanya Swamy Temple History:
The temple was built in AD 849-892 by King Gunaga Vijayaditya III of the Eastern Chalukyas and Peddapuram Maharaja contributed to this temple. According to the history of this place, Biccavolu village has 108 temples built by King Turpu Chalukya, Narendra Mrugaraju, who was the father of Vikramaditya, the great emperor of the 8th century. King Narendra Mrugaraju waged 108 wars and killed many soldiers, to free himself from this sin, Narendra Mrugaraju built 108 temples on the shore of the Holy Godavari temple.
Among these 108 temples, some were destroyed by Turushka and others were destroyed by nature. 3 temples can now see the courts of the village of Biccavolu. Sri Subrahmanyeswara and Golingeswara Swamy temples are located in the center of Biccavolu village. Later, the Biccavolu region of Toorpu Chalukya came under the domination of Peddapuram Maharaja.
