What is Kala Sarpa Dosha?
Kaala Sarpa Dosh is all about a faulty planetary position, with a snake-like formation, found in the person’s natal birth chart. In a dosha like this, the planetary positions are such that Rahu (head of the snake) and Ketu (tail of the snake) happen to fall on the beginning and end of the formation, respectively. There are many other ways by which Kaal Sarpa Yoga can be formed, the moon in the eight houses of the natal chart being one of the ways. However, there are no rules of thumb to Kaal Sarpa Dosha and it requires a good astrologer to study the planetary position accurately. The person suffering from Kala Sarpa Yoga finds it difficult life to lead a happy life. He/she suffering from Kala Sarpa Dosha has problems in married life, loss of money and constant health problems. The Dosha can be cured and controlled by offering prayers to Lord Shiva at some chosen destinations. Srikalahasti is one of them.
Rahu Kethu Pooja / Sarpa dosha / Graha doshas / Sarva Doshas Puja:
Rahu Ketu Pooja and Sarpdosha Puja are performed in order to minify the ill effects of yoga. Thousands of devotees flock to Srikalahasti to get the desired results through this pooja. Many of these pujas are performed with ascertained results for those who suffer from marital discord, not begetting children, problems in jobs and many long-standing problems. The puja is performed to neutralize the malefic effects of the planets and cut out its negative effect on the life of the individual.
Rahu Ketu Dosha Nivarana Puja at Srikalahasti:
Charges: Rs 500, 750, 1500, 2500 and 5000 Tickets are available. 1+1 adult 2 kids are allowed at a time on purchase of one ticket of Sarp Dosh Pooja. The charges are inclusive of the puja ingredients. A special Rahu Ketu pooja can be availed by paying Rs 5000 (excluding the Dakshina).
The temple is renowned for the Rahu-Ketu Dosha Nivarana puja; there are hundreds of poojas performed daily. Srikalahasti Temple is mostly recommended for Rahu Ketu Pooja than for normal darshans. As the temple hosts number of different poojas, there are particular counters selling tickets for specific poojas. People must bear in mind that the cost for special pooja is inclusive of puja Samagri (puja material).
Rahu Ketu Dosha Nivarana puja Charges / Ticket :
500, 750, 1500, 2500, 5000 Rs Tickets are issued 1+1 adult 2 kids are allowed.
Rahu Ketu Pooja Places:
- For 500/- Rs Ticket Hall outside Temple, near Pathala Ganapathi Temple.
- For 750/- Rs Ticket Outside Temple at Nagari Kumarula Mandapam, within Temple Premises.
- For 1500/-Ticket A/C Mantapam Outside Temple beside Addala Mandapam Near Dwajasthambham.
- For Rs 2500/ Near the Kalyanotsavam Mantapam inside the temple.
- For Rs. 5000/ Near Sahasra Linga shrine inside the temple.
Puja Samagri: Two metal images of Rahu and Ketu, with the prasadam of Laddu and Vada, flowers (from a different counter), vermillion (sindoor) and turmeric (Haldi)

Sri Kalahastiswara Swamy Temple will open at 5.30 AM and will be closed at 9.00 PM
Note:
Never lose your ticket as it is imperative to show up whenever asked or till you come out from the Temple.
The Pooja:
The Rahu Ketu Pooja lasts for 30-40 minutes, and it is always better to get the pooja performed during Rahu kalam. Unlike other pooja that consists of havan or Homa (fire ceremony), the Rahu Ketu Nivran Pooja is all done by chanting mantras for two metallic snake strips that represent Rahu and Ketu. Flowers and vermillion are sprinkled or proffered to the Rahu Ketu representing metals while the mantra is cantillated to complete the whole puja routine. Mantra recitations are also done in favor of one’s gotra, caste and janma nakshatra. ** No need to discard your clothes or having a bath after the pooja. You can go in the same clothes.
Best Timing to perform Rahu Ketu Pooja :
For Sani Bhagavan Saturdays are the best day.
For Rahu Ketu, Monday is the best day.
For Dakshina Moorthy Thursday is the best day.

1) – Rahu Kalam at 09.00 am to 10.30 am is the best time.
2) – 07.00 am or 07.30 am at the counter. You may ask Temple security person to guide you the path or if you are entering thro the South faced Gopuram (Entrance) you will cross two gopurams and then the counter comes to Ur right side near the Pathala Ganapathy Temple. It is an open ticket counter. No need of worry about the ticket possibility. Almost 2000 tickets are available. If you are entering thro the west face gopuram entrance, take the right side path and to a furlong you will find the counter to your left side and come back to proceed to the temple.
3) – Yes Traditional dress is a must. Dhoti for men and Sari or chudidhar to woman.
4) – No need to discard your dresses or taking a bath. It’s a rumor created by the Astrologers and by some strangers. But only thing is that you must go straight to your home. Not to your friends or relatives houses, but can visit temples on your way.
5)- After the rahu kala Pooja you will be sent to the main deity dharshan by the Temple devasthanam itself.

1) – You should be near the Temple Counter one or 1 ½ hrs prior to the 01.30 pm to 03.00 pm Rahu Kalam time.
2) – There is no advance booking facility available, one has to come in person to the temple to buy the ticket as it is an open counter.
3) – For one person to perform the Rahu Kethu pooja its 1500 rs. Along with them one adult and two children’s are allowed for the Lord’s and Goddess Dharshan. You will be allowed to see the pooja that’s it. If u wants to perform the pooja for your self also you has to buy another ticket for you. (If 2 peoples has to perform the pooja both of them has to buy separate tickets)
4) – Pooja Time is nearly 45 minutes. Not required to take a bath after performing the pooja. Only thing is that you should not go to your relatives or friends house. Straight to your Home (Parents or
your birth place or to Malaysia).

Glad to hear the faith on Sree Kalahastheeshwara (the Presiding Deity) on you part. Normally the Rahu Kethu pooja is allowed and is done by Hindus only, because the Hindus have a Gothram (a family name comes from ancestors). So to my knowledge it is not possible. And I did not see not even a single person performed the pooja, but allowed for worship of God. Anyhow you can contact the temple official @ 08578 – 222240 for a pakka confirmation.

Yes you can go to hotel but not to any friends or relatives houses.
Trains are available from Trivandrum to Thirupathy (pls check for Trains) and from Thirupathy, it’s just 45 minutes to reach Sree Kalahasthi. Plenty of RTC Busses are available for every 15 minutes. You need not go to Chennai and come to Kalahasthi unless you have any work at Chennai.
From Chennai Central Station, go to Coimbedu Metropoliti Bus Terminus (CMBT). From there catch the Bus No – 200 (Chennai via Sree Kalahasthi to Thirupathy) and Bus No – 114 (Chennai to Sree Kalahasthi), available for every 15 to 20 minutes. It takes 2 ½ hrs to reach Sree Kalahasthi. If you catch the bus no 200, you can get down very near to the Temple. By Bus no – 114, you have to get down in the Kalahasthi Bus stand and from there you have to catch an auto which may charge 50
Rs only or bargain (your talent) because its only one KM.

1) There is no difference in the Pooja but the place where u are going to sit differs. For the 1500 rs ticket, pooja happens inside the main
temple on a platform beside the Sanctun Sanctorum. You may get the Divine Vibrations inside the Temple, as it is a very ancient temple right. And some feel that pooja was don beside the Sanctum that’s it. For 350 rs and 750 rs the pooja happens in a mandap outside the Main
Temple. Paying any amount among the three Ticket the Temple Devasthanam will give two silver Naaga Padiga (Snake forms), Anga vasthra and with some flowers etc.
2) Home or Hostel, you may go anywhere. It’s your wish. Both are you staying place. Only one thing is that you should not go to your
friends or relatives houses, that’s it.

You have to come in person to the Counter which comes after entering

which is called as Rahu Kethu Pooja or Kaala Sarpa Dosha Pooja. The
pooja will be done at the same time at a same place in the temple and
mandap according to the value of Ticket u purchase.
Your plan is to visit Kalahasthi is on 27th (Thrusday) or 28th
(Friday) fight. Right time to perform the Rahu kethu pooja is the Rahu
kaalam. That is 01.30 pm to 03.00 pm on Thursday and 10.30 am to 12.00
pm on Friday. You have to be there one or one and half n hour before
the start of the Rahu kaalam.

In person you can come and have the ticket. Remember you have to be there one or one and a half hour before to purchase the Ticket. Need not contact anybody in the Temple. After purchasing the ticket you can have the pooja samagri and just enter in to the temple to perform the pooja. There the priest will recite some manthra which in return you should also recite. They will recite it in four languages.
You can visit Thirumala before or after visit to Sree Kaalahasthi. It doesn’t matter. But only thing is you should not visit any of your friends or relatives house after performing the Kaala sarpa pooja. thank you

Rahukalam will come in the morning at 09.00 am to 10.30 am. For that
you should be near the counter at 07.30 am to purchase the Ticket.
They will give the pooja material. Dress code – Traditional only. No
jeans or T-Shirt. You may visit Thirumala and then come to Kalahasthi
and get done the pooja and straight to ur home.

I am coming to perform the rahu-kethu pooja on Sunday 2nd Nov 2014. Actually according to your website the rahu-kalam timings is between 4.30 pm to 6 pm. It is not compulsory to perform the pooja at rahu kalam time, but it is the best time for rahu ketu pooja.

There is no difference between performing Pooja @ Rs 1600 and the Normal ticket. Only thing is that the sitting place. Rs 1600 Ticket is allowed to sit on a platform inside the Main Temple in between the Sanctum Santorum and the Lord Vinayaka Temple (to the left of the Entrance). Whereas the normal ticket will be held inside a mandap (hall) outside the Main temple near and the west side entrance of the Temple compound. There will be no difference in the Pooja Vidhaan (procedure). As per my Knowledge, if you do the pooja inside the temple (Rs 1600 Ticket), there will be some Vibrations that you may find as it an Ancient Temple where many saints (performed penance or yaagas) and even now Vedha Manthras is being recited inside the Temple. So that is the explanation that I could give.
There is no Advance Booking or Online Booking. To buy a ticket on Monday, you should be there by 5.30 Am or 06.00 Am as per the crowd thronged on that day.
For Gents: White Dhoti and Shirt or Vests. For Ladies: Yellow or White Saree.
According to the Temple official, it is not required to leave off the clothes or take a bath, but just getting back straight to home. And if you have time you can visit any temples on your way back to home.
Ticket Counter:
One who comes by Bus: You can find the Ticket Counter to your right side, when you enter the North side Entrance and after entering the second Gopuram.
One who comes by car via Thirupathy: If you enter the temple via Western Entrance, you can find two ways one way (towards Right) which leads you to the Main Temple and the left side path leads you to the Ticket Counter which comes to your left side and to the Northern entrance and to shops.

For Rahu Ketu Monday is the best day,
you will get ticket inside the temple compound.

just take the ticket enter the temple all the pooja samagris will be supplied by the temple authorities.
if you sleep one night that will be good but it is not necessary to sleep here its your wish.

Dear Visitor of templesinindiainfo.com, it is not required to sleep at Sri Kalahasthi or even need not leave the clothes as per the say of the Temple officials. But number of devotees believes that sleeping at Sri Kalahasthi and leaving cloths, taking bath is good. Leaving the clothes and taking the bath represents that the sin is completely removed.
Staying inside the temple is good but it is not possible as the temple door is closed at Night. Closing the Temple doors represents that sleeping is not required.
But just one thing is that one should go straight to home or can visit other Temples on their way to home or as schedule they planned.

Best Timing to perform Poojas:
For Sani Bhagavan Saturdays is the best day, For Rahu Ketu Monday is the best day, For Dakshinamoorthy Thursday is the best day.
It is not compulsory to go to your house but its always better go to your own house after performing any pooja.
Couple can do the puja.

We can do the pooja for Graha Shanthi for the person you inform and also the pooja for “CHANDRA DEVA” for your daughter. We can do these poojas without the person and i will let you the charges for performing the said pooja which can be transferred through money order to the priest directly. I will mail the details tomorrow.
Graha Shanthi Pooja is not done here. Only rahu kethu pooja, Rudhra Abhishekam and poojas related to Lord Shiva.
That can be done by making payment to the temple.
If you want to privately do the Navagraha Shanthi pooja then it is possible by us. We do it in a temple with priests.

I performed Rahu Kethu puja 2years back. But, i didn’t take shower and changed the clothes after puja before the darshan of lord vaulingeshwara and goddess gnanaprasunambika devi. I took darshan directly after puja.
Is it mandatory to get fresh up and change clothes after puja?
Because, I’m planning to do puja again in the month of December 2014.

Here are the Charge details: Rs 600 per person. Only 3 people are allowed at a time on purchase of one ticket of Sarp Dosh Pooja. The charges are inclusive of the puja ingredients. A special rahu ketu pooja can be availed by paying Rs 1500 (excluding the dakshina).
