Karkala Durga Parameswari Temple is a Rakteshwar temple located in Belmann, Mundkur, Karkala Taluk, Udupi District, Karnataka. The Belmann village is almost exactly halfway between Karkala and Padubidri. After turning right on the Mangalore-Udupi highway to Padubidri, it is about 12-15 km from Padubidr, 18 km from Karkala.
This temple was built in the 7th century AD. The temple is located in the middle of a thick jungle and therefore it is popularly known as Vana Durga or Durga of the forest temple. There are many more Rajan Daivas in this temple. Mythology says that Mundkur is where the goddess Durga killed the demon Mundasura. Later, the sage Bhargava, who knew the sanctity of the place, established the temple of the goddess Mahishamardhini with the idol of Devi facing west. The Karkala Durga Parameswari temple also houses shrines to Lord Ganapathi and Goddess Rakteshwari.
