When Jaganmatha Sri Lalita Devi proceeded to annihilate Pandasura, she was accompanied by ,mainly Sri Varahi and Sri Matangi among others.

Sri Varahi who was Devi’s commander-in chief rode in Her chariot Girichakram along with Her army of warriors. Deva’s in heaven praised her, reciting her 12 names, Panchami, Dandhanatha, Sanketha, Samayeswari, Samayasanketha, Varahi, Pothrini, Shiva, Varthali, Mahasena, Ajnachakreswari and Arigni, invoking the shivelri and wishing success in her endeavor. Her roaring onslaught was so fearsome the asuras got frightened and ran berserk to save themselves from being slaughtered. No doubt the ultimate victory was for Jaganmatha Sri Lalita Devi.

The asura was killed where by saving the universe from the rampage of such bad elements.Sri Varahi, is thus named because of her look alike of a wild boar .In fact it is explained that akin to cleaning the dirt on earth,Sri.Varahi

Ulsoor Sri Mahavarahi Temple History:

Sri Mahavarahi Temple Trust was formed in the month of April 2006 to construct a temple for Sri Mahavarahi Amman.

We wish to inform you that, as almost 10 years have passed since the Trust was formed and registered, and since many more devotees have joined the Varahi Family since then, we feel it is necessary to share how this moment began and where stand up now.

Way back in 2006, when we were all coming back in train after performing a pooja and abhishekam for Goddess Sri Raja Mathangi temple at Salem, a thought came as why not we have a temple for Goddess Sri Maha Varahi in Ulsoor, Bangalore.

At the time this was discussed, all the devotees expressed great interest and began offering their contributions in the same train. To our surprise, an amount of approximately Rs 5000.00 was collected in a few hours.

Subsequently, a temple trust committee was formed with like-minded people to decide the course of future actions. As a result, the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and members were selected and the trust was registered. In addition, a distinct Sri Mahavarahi Charitable Trust was also registered the same day. Regular meetings were held and funds began to be received from all the devotees for the purchase of land for the temple.

While, we, as Trust Members, accept about the delay on our part to get this activity completed, our efforts for purchase of land for construction of the temple is still in progress.

We recently had a meeting to expedite this activity. As purchase of land in and around Bangalore will require more funds, it was decided to put the request to the devotees to contribute for this noble cause.

Our Temple Construction Guruji Kumar Mama has perused the Temple Trust papers and gave us above “Slokam” for Dhana Akarshanam. He also made specific note that the below slokam is to be recited for fund collection to Temple construction and not for Individual gains. Let us pray for Goddess Maha Lakhmi for wealth to fullfill our wishes to build Sri Maha Varahi Temple.
