Ganesha or Ganapati or Vinayaka Swamy is worshipped in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia (Java and Bali), Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Fiji, Guyana, Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago and in countries with Indian populations. Ganesha is also worshipped as a principal deity in both Jainism and Buddhism.
Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati and Karthikeya or Subrahmanya is his brother, Subrahmanya is also known as the god of war.
