The Richest temple and the most visited temple of Lord Balaji in Tirupati, There are three exact replicas of Tirumala Balaji Temple in Maharashtra, two are in Mumbai – Balaji Temple at Nerul is built on the lines of Venkateshwara temple at Tirupati, the temple is surrounded by hills like the Tirupati Temple, the other temple is Fanaswadi Sri Balaji Temple This temple observes all religious programs starting from Suprabhata Seva to Ekanta Seva according to the same tradition following in Tirumala Temple. The third Balaji temple is Prati Balaji Temple- Replica of the Tirupati Balaji is at Ketkawle village near Pune. It is around 45 km from Pune.
On 18th April 1990 the SLN sabha was inaugurated by Dr. S Venkata Varadan, Director Nehru Planetarium, Mumbai. and soon after a few months i.e. on 4th August 1990, it was registered as a public trust. From this date onwards the SLN sabha started many ambitious and genuine projects, considering the need of people residing at Nerul.
At first, the sabha decided to build a temple of Lord Venkateshwara. The things worked out fast with the efforts of the members, and on 8th December 1991, on a pre-decided site at Nerul, Bhoomi pooja for the temple was performed by Shankaracharya Swamiji of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham.
Here Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is with his Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi, yagna murtis, Bali Bera, Sri Rama – Sita – Lakshman, Sri Krishna – Rukmini and Sri Sudarshana – all traditionally sculpted in Pancha Loha.
