Vaishakha is the second month of the traditional Hindu lunar calendar. It is one of the auspicious months for Hindus. This month is dedicated to Sri Maha Vishnu. It is believed that bathing in the sacred rivers and sacred teeth in the daytime will help in the redemption from sins. This month is considered the ideal month for doing charity, homas, fasts, etc. Hindu scriptures like Skandpurana describe the glory and significance of the month of Vaishakh and mention that there is no other month like Vaishakh which is considered auspicious.
According to Sage Narada Maharshi, 3 months (Karthika Masam, Magha Masam, Vaishka Masam) for Hindus is considered very auspicious. Among them, Vaishaka Masam is the supreme month. Sri Vishnu tests his devotees and blesses him according to his deeds. This holy month purifies the sins of the previous birth and devotee without bad results.
Providing water to a thirsty person this month is equivalent to performing Rajsun Yagam. The person who takes a bath early in the morning and performs homas, rituals, fasts to worship Sri Vishnu is greatly blessed.
