About Hanuman Puja:
The day before Depawali pooja, Lord Anjaneya Swamy Puja is performed in Gujarat and some parts of India. The day of Lord Anjaneya puja coincides with Kali Chaudas. Devotees believe that evil spirits become more powerful on the night of Kali Chaudas. Lord Anjaneya Swamy, who gives strength to fight evil spirits, is worshiped to seek strength, power, and protection from all kinds of evil spirits.
According to legends, Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating the Ravanasura the demon king of Cylone and completing his fourteen years of exile. Hanuman’s devotion and dedication pleased both Sri Rama and himself, has blessed Lord Hanuman to be worshiped before him. Therefore, people worship God Hanuman one day before the Diwali celebrations.
The same day is celebrated as Shri Hanuman Jayanti in Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya. However, most people in northern India celebrate Hanuman Jayanti in Chaitra Purnima.
