The letter was delivered by Srila Prabhupada to Hridayananda Dasa Goswami, one of his most important disciples. Hridayananda Dasa Goswami, visit one of the temples in the United States, learned that he had a young Brazilian visitor (Jagad Vicitra Dasa) and searched for information about Brazil. This young man is however, the younger brother of Dhanvantari Swami, the most interesting is that neither the other knew had contacts with Krishna consciousness.

Hridayananda Dasa Goswami came to Salvador / BA, but found Dhanvantari Swami who lived in Brasilia / DF at that time, then Hridayananda Dasa Goswami went to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, then back to Salvador, where the movement continued weekly meetings without interruption.

But it was only in 1991 that ISKCON Bay was officially registered in the National Register of Legal Entities (CNPJ), at that time the president of the institution was Gaura Krishna Dasa, who remained in office until 1993. His successor was Vrindavana Dasa, who stayed in the office. until 1996, when he was replaced by Aniruddha Dasa who chaired the institution until early 2000. Then Devananda Dasa served for a year. Later, Gopa Kumara Dasa assumed the presidency of the institution and remained in office for about two years. After his departure, ISKCON Bay was administered by the Administrative Committee, which was established at the end of 1999. In 2008, Damodara Dasa became president of the institution and remained until 2010 when a management team, which assumed responsibility formed administer ISKCON Bahia.

ISKCON Bahia received the title of Public Utility Municipal, during the management of Vrindavana Dasa. And he received the title of State Public Service, during the first management of Aniruddha Dasa. The realization of the two titles was articulated by Gandharvika Devi Dasi, at the time public relations of ISKCON Bahia and current advisor in communication.

On April 14, 2013, the first stage of construction was completed, which allowed the installation of the Deities on the altar and the beginning of the activities in our own Temple.
