Kunnathu Sri Mahadeva Temple is located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kudappanakunnu. The deity who presides over the temple is Lord Shiva, located in separate shrines, facing east. It is believed that this temple is one of the 108 temples of Shiva of Kerala and is installed by the sage Parasurama dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located near the Kudappanakkunnu civilian station on the Peroorkada-Mannanthala highway.
The main sanctuary and its surroundings however have their old charm punctuated by crude constructions. Other deities in the Kunnathu temples worshipped are Ganapathy and Vasuki (snake). The annual temple festival is celebrated in Malayalam of Dhanu (month) (December-January).
