Annadana Seva on the occasion of Sri Swamiji’s 75th birthday celebrations

The joy of living by giving: Datta Bhiksha is a popular custom at Avadhoota Datta Peetham observed religiously by followers of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji in temples, branches as well as at home. Lord Dattatreya, an Avadhuta, traverses the globe seeking alms in the form of a mendicant. Devotees keep aside a fistful of rice every day and later donate it for Annadaana or distribute it among the poor for, it is believed that during the hours of Bhiksha, such an act is equivalent to giving food to Lord Dattatreya Himself! Such a practice relieves one of the terrible consequences of past sins; sins committed by the individual as well as ancestors. It brings peace to departed souls and prosperity to living family.

Since observing this is not possible for everybody at all times, Sri Swamiji has blessed us with a wonderful opportunity to contribute to Avadhoota Datta Peetham’s Datta Bhiksha project which has been providing food to lakhs of people.

On the special occasion of Sri Swamiji’s 75th birthday, treading the path he has laid for us, let us all come together and contribute, to the best of our capability, towards feeding thousands of people. We encourage you to avail this rare opportunity and participate in the seva.

The joy of providing food, for pleasure or charity is unique. It is the easiest and quickest way to nourish our souls with goodness and kindness. Sri Swamiji’s special blessings fortifying the immense satisfaction of Annadana are sure to bring you boundless joy, Ananda!
