Govinda Dham Nodia

About ISKCON NOIDA:

After crossing the Yamuna River from Delhi, the overcrowded capital of India, the vision of Noida, a large satellite city in the National Capital Region, creates a sense of welcome. Since 1970, eight hundred thousand people have moved to Noida (abbreviation of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority) to take advantage of its broad roads, large residential neighborhoods, prosperous economy, excellent infrastructure and emergence as pole of major outsourcing and education. Naturally, the devotees of the International Society for the Consciousness of Krishna saw the opportunity to build and maintain a congregation here, and their vision proved to be true. The devotees opened a small center here in 1998. Over time, the congregation of families, young workers, and university students grew up, as did the need for a proper temple. After nearly eight years of planning and development, the temple was inaugurated on February 12, 2014, with the installation of deities Radha-Govinda, Gaura-Nitai (Chaitanya and Nityananda) and Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra.

Located on a main boulevard and adjacent to the Krishna Jayanti Park (government property, maintained by ISKCON), the temple is very accessible and visible. As modern and progressive as the city that dominates, it still represents the Caintanya Vaisnava tradition. On both sides of the front of the temple there are giant reliefs of Sri Chaitanya and Nityananda, and the temple was inaugurated on the anniversary of the appearance of Nityananda.
