The Hare Krishna movement is a millennial spiritual movement, framed by the Vedic and Vaishnava culture of India, which originated in the Sankirtana (Congregational Song) movement, whose founder was Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu (1486 – 1533). Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who in 1966 founded the International Society for the Consciousness of Krishna (ISKCON), popularized the millennial song of Maha Mantra worldwide: “Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama , Hare Rama Branch Branch Hare Hare. “Without distinction of race, creed, sex or nationality, all are invited to practice this simple but intense and intimate process of meditation and spiritual realization.
