About Yama Dwitiya:
Yama Dwitiya is Celebrated on Dwitiya Tithi during the month of Kartik. Most of the time, Yama Dwitiya falls two days after Deepavali Puja. Yamraj, the lord of death, is worshipped at Yama Dwitiya with Chitra gupta and Yama-Doots, assistants of Lord Yamraj.
The Aparahna is the most appropriate moment for Yama Dwitiya Pooja. It is suggested to Yamuna Snan in the morning before Yamraj Puja during Aparahna. Arghya should be delivered to Lord Yama Raja after Puja.
In addition to Yama Puja, the day is better known as Bhai Dooj. According to the legends of Yama Dwitiya, the goddess Yamuna fed her brother Yamraj with Kartik Dwitiya in his own home. Since then, this day is known as Yama Dwitiya. It is believed that the sisters who feed their brothers on this auspicious day would be forever Saubhagyavati and eating at the sisters’ house gives the brothers a long life. Therefore, in Bhai Dooj, the sisters prepare lavish food for their brothers and feed them with their own hands.
