Trayodashi which falls on Saturday is called Sani Trayodashi or Shani Pradosh Vrat or Pausha – Shukla Trayodashi. It is considered the most auspicious for Shani Bhagavan puja as it is the favorite day of Lord Shani. It is one of the important planets of the celestial Navagrahas of Hindu astrology. People who suffer from the adverse effects of Shani or who are going through the period of Elenati Sani (Sade-Sani), Ardhastama Sani, Ashtama Sani or their Antar Dasa are generally advised to take the necessary corrective measures to please Lord Shani and beget your blessings.
On the day of Sani Trayodasi, the natives must perform Tailabhishekam. Few black grams, 100 grams of ginger oil, a kilo of charcoal, a small black ribbon, 8 iron nails, Navadanyams which must be tied in a black cloth and donated to the temple priest or dropped the same in running water will certainly please Lord Shani Deva. Offer food to a crow and feed needy people. Do not buy oil, leather, umbrellas, Navadanyams, etc., this Saturday. Distribute rice with salt meals, black clothes to the poor on Saturday. It is recommended to recite the following mantra at least 108 times to please Lord Shani Bhagavan. The natives have to perform pujas and Abhishekams to please Lord Shani.
