Garhwal Ardha Badri Temple Timings, History | Sapta Badri Temple

Garhwal Ardha Badri temple is situated in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. This temple is one of the Sapta Badri Temples in Uttarakhand and it is the seventh among the Sapta Badri temples. Sri Lord Vishnu idol is smaller in size, and measures out to be almost half in size. Thus, the name of Ardha Badri, that is, ‘half Badri,’ has been derived. So it is also called Little Badri. Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Makar Sankranti are the two major festivals celebrated.

According to history, Adi Shankaracharya built Sapta Badri temples, including Adi Badri during the Gupta period. As per beliefs, he did so to promote and spread Hinduism to all parts of the country, however remotely accessible. Devotees believe that Lord Vishnu moved to Badrinath in Satya yuga.
