About Mahesh Navami:
Mahesh Navami is observed Yearly in Shukla Paksha Navami in the month of Jyeshtha according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The festival is celebrated primarily by the devotees of Lord Maha Shiva who is popularly known by many names, including Mahesh. The name is a symbol of deep devotion to Lord Shiva. It is believed that he appeared to his worshipers for the first time on the auspicious day of Mahesh Navami. The day is dedicated to Shiva. The business community of Maheshwaris adores Lord Mahesh and his wife Parvati on the occasion of Mahesh Navami because it is believed that the 9th day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshta Maheshwari Community was created. Therefore, the day is celebrated as Mahesh Navami every year

Importance and Legend:
There is a special belief that women who desire a son make special prayers on this day and Lord Shiva bless them. Legend has it that King Khandelsen did not have children. Therefore, he worshiped Lord Maha Shiva with supreme devotion, after which Lord Shiva fulfilled his desire by blessing him with a son named Sujansen.

The popular legend related to Mahesh Navami says that once the hunters ventured into an ashram and disturbed the serenity and tranquility. The sages were angry with them and cursed them to become a stone. Later, the hunters’ wives prayed to Lord Shiva and asked for the solution to get rid of the curse. Lord Shiva has agreed to save them only if they promise to stop hunting and get involved in other things. The women accepted the condition and so all the men were saved. The hunters saved and their parents stopped hunting and focused on business, and named their community as the Maheshwari community after Lord Mahesh to show their love and devotion to Shiva. Therefore, it is believed that Lord Shiva was the savior of the ancestors of the community.

Mahesh Navami Celebrations:
It is mainly a Hindu festival and is celebrated in many parts of the country, especially in Rajasthan. Devotees from all walks of life worship Mahesh and the goddess Parvati on this day. The temples are decorated with flowers and are accompanied by piety and serenity everywhere. Newly married couples are especially invited to worship the Lord and Goddess Parvati on this day to begin the new phase of their lives with happiness and good will.
