Jyotisar Temple is located in Kurukshetra, Haryana. This place has a large banyan tree where it is believed that Sri Krishna preached the holy sermons to Arjuna and showed his Virat-Rupa. The banyan tree is 5000 years old and one of the oldest trees in India.
Jyotisar is Jyoti (light) and Sar (river), which means “the river of light”, nothing less than Knowledge and Wisdom. The Kurukshetra War, the battle between the Pandavas and Kauravas of the Mahabharata epic, is said to have started here. There is a white marble sculpture of the chariot with Lord Krishna and Arjuna.
150 years ago the King of Kashmir constructed a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In 1824, a bandstand was built to cover the Akshay vat (Banyan Tree) at the initiative of King Dharbanga.
Currently, you can see a car of Krishna-Arjun and a temple of Adi Sankara which was consecrated by the holy supervision of Kamakoti Peetha Shankaracharyaj, descendants and disciples of Jagat Guru Adi Sankara. Great Sage Manu Wrote Manusmriti in this place. Rigveda and Sama Veda were also composed here.
