About Secunderabad Sri Ganapathi Devalayam:

The temple of Sri Ganesh adjacent to Secunderabad Station is one of the oldest and most important temples of Lord Ganesh in southern India. Historians believe that Lord Sri Ganesh’s idol with a right hand on his right thigh and another holding Ankusham and a left hand holding the trunk and another holding Damarakam with Nagumpamu (Sacred Snake) was discovered in 1824 by the Madras Regiment of Sepoys while digging a well. It is a very rare sight of Sri Ganapati . In fact, it is the only one of its kind in the world and it is the only temple after Kanipakam Sri Swayambhu Vinayaka Swamy Temple where Lord Ganesha found his dwelling in a well. With great devotion, the Sepoys consecrated the idol and installed it in a magnificent architecture of the temple, built according to Agama Sastras. This temple is now acclaimed as one of the major temples in the twin towns of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as in Telangana state, captivating devotees with their rare spiritual environment.
