Shatarudriyam Lyrics in English

Satarudriya is also said that gods are satiated if Srī Rudram Mantra is chanted and hence it is also called Satarudriya, which means extolling one hundred ways of glorifying Rudra.

Shatarudriya in English:

॥ śatarudrīyam ॥
vyāsa uvāca |
prajāpatīnāṁ prathamaṁ tējasāṁ puruṣaṁ prabhum |
bhuvanaṁ bhūrbhuvaṁ dēvaṁ sarvalōkēśvaraṁ prabhum || 1 ||

īśānaṁ varadaṁ pārtha dr̥ṣṭavānasi śaṅkaram |
taṁ gaccha śaraṇaṁ dēvaṁ varadaṁ bhuvanēśvaram || 2 ||

mahādēvaṁ mahātmānamīśānaṁ jaṭilaṁ śivam |
tryakṣaṁ mahābhujaṁ rudraṁ śikhinaṁ cīravāsasam || 3 ||

mahādēvaṁ haraṁ sthāṇuṁ varadaṁ bhuvanēśvaram |
jagatpradhānamadhikaṁ jagatprītamadhīśvaram || 4 ||

jagadyōniṁ jagaddvīpaṁ jayinaṁ jagatō gatim |
viśvātmānāṁ viśvasr̥jaṁ viśvamūrtiṁ yaśasvinam || 5 ||

viśvēśvaraṁ viśvavaraṁ karmaṇāmīśvaraṁ prabhum |
śaṁbhuṁ svayaṁbhuṁ bhūtēśaṁ bhūtabhavyabhavōdbhavam || 6 ||

yōgaṁ yōgēśvaraṁ śarvaṁ sarvalōkēśvarēśvaram |
sarvaśrēṣṭhaṁ jagacchrēṣṭhaṁ variṣṭhaṁ paramēṣṭhinam || 7 ||

lōkatrayavidhātāramēkaṁ lōkatrayāśrayam |
sudurjayaṁ jagannāthaṁ janmamr̥tyujarātigam || 8 ||

jñānātmānaṁ jñānagamyaṁ jñānaśrēṣṭaṁ sudurvidam |
dātāraṁ caiva bhaktānāṁ prasādavihitān varān || 9 ||

tasya pāriṣadā divyā rūpairnānāvidhairvibhōḥ |
vāmanā jaṭilā muṇḍā hrasvagrīvā mahōdarāḥ || 10 ||

mahākāyā mahōtsāhā mahākarṇāstathāparē |
ananairvikr̥taiḥ pādaiḥ pārtha vēṣaiśca vaikr̥taiḥ || 11 ||

īdr̥śaiḥ sa mahādēvaḥ pūjyamānō mahēśvaraḥ |
sa śivastāta tējasvī prasādādyāti tē:’grataḥ || 12 ||

tasmin ghōrē sadā pārtha saṅgrāmē rōmaharṣaṇē |
drauṇikarṇakr̥pairguptāṁ mahēṣvāsaiḥ prahāribhiḥ || 13 ||

kastāṁ sēnāṁ tadā pārtha manasāpi pradharṣayēt |
r̥tē dēvānmahēṣvāsādbahurūpānmahēśvarāt || 14 ||

sthātumutsahatē kaścinna tasminnagrataḥ sthitē |
na hi bhūtaṁ samaṁ tēna triṣu lōkēṣu vidyatē || 15 ||

gandhēnāpi hi saṅgrāmē tasya kruddhasya śatravaḥ |
visañjñā hatabhūyiṣṭhā vēpanti ca patanti ca || 16 ||

tasmai namastu kurvantō dēvāstiṣṭhanti vai divi |
yē cānyē mānavā lōkē yē ca svargajitō narāḥ || 17 ||

yē bhaktā varadaṁ dēvaṁ śivaṁ rudramumāpatim |
iha lōkē sukhaṁ prāpya tē yānti paramāṁ gatim || 18 ||

namaskuruṣva kauntēya tasmai śāntāya vai sadā |
rudrāya śitikaṇṭhāya kaniṣṭhāya suvarcasē || 19 ||

kapardinē karālāya haryakṣa varadāya ca |
yāmyāyāraktakēśāya sadvr̥ttē śaṅkarāya ca || 20 ||

kāmyāya harinētrāya sthāṇavē puruṣāya ca |
harikēśāya muṇḍāya kaniṣṭhāya suvarcasē || 21 ||

bhāskarāya sutīrthāya dēvadēvāya raṁhasē |
bahurūpāya śarvāya priyāya priyavāsasē || 22 ||

uṣṇīṣiṇē suvaktrāya sahasrākṣāya mīḍhuṣē |
girīśāya suśāntāya patayē cīravāsasē || 23 ||

hiraṇyabāhavē rājannugrāya patayē diśām |
parjanyapatayē caiva bhūtānāṁ patayē namaḥ || 24 ||

vr̥kṣāṇāṁ patayē caiva gavāṁ ca patayē tathā |
vr̥kṣairāvr̥takāyāya sēnānyē madhyamāya ca || 25 ||

sruvahastāya dēvāya dhanvinē bhārgavāya ca |
bahurūpāya viśvasya patayē muñjavāsasē || 26 ||

sahasraśirasē caiva sahasranayanāya ca |
sahasrabāhavē caiva sahasracaraṇāya ca || 27 ||

śaraṇaṁ gaccha kauntēya varadaṁ bhuvanēśvaram |
umāpatiṁ virūpākṣaṁ dakṣayajñanibarhaṇam || 28 ||

prajānāṁ patimavyagraṁ bhūtānāṁ patimavyayam |
kapardinaṁ vr̥ṣāvartaṁ vr̥ṣanābhaṁ vr̥ṣadhvajam || 29 ||

vr̥ṣadarpaṁ vr̥ṣapatiṁ vr̥ṣaśr̥ṅgaṁ vr̥ṣarṣabham |
vr̥ṣāṅkaṁ vr̥ṣabhōdāraṁ vr̥ṣabhaṁ vr̥ṣabhēkṣaṇam || 30 ||

vr̥ṣāyudhaṁ vr̥ṣaśaraṁ vr̥ṣabhūtaṁ mahēśvaram |
mahōdaraṁ mahākāyaṁ dvīpicarmanivāsinam || 31 ||

lōkēśaṁ varadaṁ muṇḍaṁ brahmaṇyaṁ brāhmaṇapriyam |
triśūlapāṇiṁ varadaṁ khaḍgacarmadharaṁ śubham || 32 ||

pinākinaṁ khaḍgadharaṁ lōkānāṁ patimīśvaram |
prapadyē śaraṇaṁ dēvaṁ śaraṇyaṁ cīravāsasam || 33 ||

namastasmai surēśāya yasya vaiśravaṇaḥ sakhā |
suvāsasē namō nityaṁ suvratāya sudhanvinē || 34 ||

dhanurdharāya dēvaya priyadhanvāya dhanvinē |
dhanvantarāya dhanuṣē dhanvācāryāya tē namaḥ || 35 ||

ugrāyudhāya dēvaya namaḥ suravarāya ca |
namō:’stu bahurūpāya namastē bahudhanvinē || 36 ||

namō:’stu sthāṇavē nityaṁ namastasmai sudhanvinē |
namō:’stu tripuraghnāya bhavaghnāya ca vai namaḥ || 37 ||

vanaspatīnāṁ patayē narāṇāṁ patayē namaḥ |
mātr̥̄ṇāṁ patayē caiva gaṇānāṁ patayē namaḥ || 38 ||

gavāṁ ca patayē nityaṁ yajñānāṁ patayē namaḥ |
apāṁ ca patayē nityaṁ dēvānāṁ patayē namaḥ || 39 ||

pūṣṇō dantavināśāya tryakṣāya varadāya ca |
harāya nīlakaṇṭhāya svarṇakēśāya vai namaḥ || 40 ||
