SS Tamala Krishna Goswami, one of Srila Prabhupada’s most beloved disciples, was the second president of ISKCON Kolkata. The first ISKCON Rath Yatra in India was held in Calcutta on July 12, 1972. The Rath Yatra procession began at 3C Albert Road and resulted in Mallick’s Thakurbari at 12 M.G. The Road. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in this wonderful event.

Whenever I was in Calcutta, Srila Prabhupada resided at 3C Albert Road. He used to stay in a small room next to the temple hall. A dictating machine, a small typewriter, the Srimad Bhagavatam and an image of his beloved spiritual master, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, were still there in his room. He met his guests in this room and gave many instructions to his disciples from here. He made many important decisions in Calcutta, including the purchase of the Mayapur land for Rs 14,500.
