Sevuga Perumal Aiyanar Temple is an ancient temple for village deity Ayyanar is located at Singampunari, Sivaganga, Tamilnadu State. Sevuga Perumal is the main deity of this temple. He is the union of Lord Shiva and Sri Maha Vishnu, so he has given special importance and is one of the most important temples in Singampunari. Here Aiyanar is seated in Power posture wearing a crown on their head and a yoga band with his consorts Pooranai and Pushkalai.
In the past, it was one of the places where oaths were taken to assure the truth. It is also home to the Suyam Prakasar, who is Suyambu. This is a natural Sivalingam placed on the left side of the main shrine. The famous Singampunari Pidari has a shrine on the right side of the central shrine.
Lord Sevuga Perumal Ayyanar is considered a brother to all Ayyanars around Singampunari such as Sirai Meetta Ayyanar, Seguttaiyanar temples present in M.Soorakkudi village, about 12 km from Singampunari. These temples are associated with Sevuga Moorthy Ayyanar in many ways. After finishing the 10-day festival at Sevuga Moorthy Ayyanar, the Maalai, Santhanam is brought to Sirai Meetta Ayyanar, Seguttaiyanar temples for “Puravi Yeduppu Thiruvizha” which is very famous in and around the districts.
Lord Aiyanaar, another aspect of the gods Saastha or Ayyappan appears as a Protecting god in many sacred places and blesses the devotees. Sevuga Perumal Aiyanaar Temple of this holy place is a powerful deity. The poojas are performed here with Bael leaves (Vilvam) related to Lord Siva. He has also acquired the name of Perumal. Since He is born of the union of Siva and Vishnu He is given a special significance.
The other deities in the temple are Kannimoola Ganapathi, Lord Subramanya with Valli and Devasena and the Navagrahas.

Sevuga Perumal Ayyanar Temple History:
Long ago this place was a Bael wood. A hunter came here to hunt and shot an arrow ata deer. The deer escaped and disappeared in the hollow of a tree trunk. The hunter tried to catch it and he found an image of Aiyanaar in the bush. The amazed hunter said: “O Lord Sevugap Perumal! I went in search of the deer; but, now I’m blessed to serve Thee from this day!” He worshipped the deity hailing Him as ‘Perumal’. From that day onwards, this Deity is known as ‘Sevugap Perumal Aiyannar’ and remains as a Protecting God.
