The Statue of Equality, also known as Sri Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, is an 11th-century statue of Vaishnayante Ramanuja, located in a 45-acre complex on the outskirts, in the premises of the Chinna Jeeyar Trust in Muchintal, Hyderabad, Telangana State. It is the second-tallest seated statue in the world. The statue-building project was conceptualized by the trust to commemorate 1000 years since Saint Ramanuja’s birth. Estimated at ₹1,000 crores (US$130 million), the project was mostly funded by donations from devotees all over the world.
The foundation stone was laid by Chinna Jeeyar in 2014. The 216 foot Ramanujacharya Statue is composed of ‘panchaloha’, a combination of five metals comprising gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc. The statue has been constructed on a base building “Bhadra Vedi” which is 54 ft tall.
Ramanujacharya Equality Statue Height costs 130 crores and was made in China by Aerosun Corporation.
The 120 kg golden statue installed at Prasanna Sarana Graha Mandapam was donated by the chairman of my home group, Rameswar Rao Jupally. He donated 27 kg of gold, the American devotee donated 8 kg and the rest was donated by other devotees.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 216 foot Ramanujacharya Statue of Equality on February 5.
President Ram Nath Kovind unveiled the 120 kg golden deity of Sri Ramanujachaya on February 13.
Ramanujacharya Equality Statue Project:
In 2014, ascetic Chinna Jeeyar came up with the idea to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Ramanuja’s teachings by building a statue. The ground floor will be 6,000 square meters and will represent the life and philosophy of Ramanuja. The temple, intended for daily worship, will be located on the second floor of 27,870 square meters. The 1,365 square meters third floor will include a digital Vedic library and research center. An Omnimax theater in the form of a planetarium with Ramanuja’s life stories was planned. 14 models were designed according to Agama Shashtra and Shilpa Shastras. 3 models have been pre-selected and improvements have been made using 3D scanning technology.
