Chhatarpur Temple, located at about of 4 kms from Qutab Minar, is one of the most popular Hindu temples in Delhi. Stretched over a wide area and filled with a peaceful atmosphere, the temple demonstrates remarkable modern temple architecture with an extensive use of marbles. The deity of the main Temple is goddess Durga. However Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesh and goddess Lakshmi are also worshipped in the adjoining temples.
The temple is flooded with a large number of devotees during the Durga Puja days. There is a popular belief that by tying a thread on a tree in the temple premises, one’s wishes will get fulfilled. All devotees can participate in the discourses and prayers that are held throughout the day. The vast temple complex represents wonderful temple architecture of both the South Indian and North Indian style.
