Mahishasura Mardhini Amman Temple is a Sakthi temple located in the village of Mathur near Thiruthani, Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. Legends says that this temple is linked with Tiruttani Murugan temple in Thiruthani. The main temple has a large corridor with colorful pillars with a picturesque backdrop of the Tirupathi Hills. The precising deity is Mahishasura Mardhini and the is goddess is about 3 meters tall. The goddess is so charismatic that even by killing the demon Mahishasura with her “Soolam” at her feet, she presents a smiling face, which is a rare to see. She has eight hands with four on each side, each holding weapon.
In addition, she also wears a skull garland. The idol was installed under simple roof structure under a neem tree. the leaves do not taste bitter.The shrines of Lord Vinayaka and Om Shakthi are located in the temple entrance.

Maddur Mahishasura Mardhini Temple History:
The idol is Swayambu Amman and was found in 1960 near the railroad tracks at a location called Sakthi Medu. In 1954, while laying the railroad between Chennai and Tirupathi, this goddess appeared as Swayambu to a group of workers amazed by the charm of the goddess, they built a small temple for her in this place which later became a great temple as it is now.

Every day at 12:15 PM Annadhanam will be providing for 100 devotes. Devotees are welcomed to participate in this Annadhanam scheme and get the blessings of Amman, for one day annadanam Rs 2000 /- will be the expense. Permanent donation of Rs. 25000 /-, the year interest will be used for one day Annadhanam for 100 peoples.
