Natta Rameswaram Temple or Natta Rama Lingeswara is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Siva and is located in Natta Rameswaram, Penumantra Mandal, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Here Lord Siva is worshipped in Siva Linga form. It is best to worship Siva Linga with mango juice. Two main temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva, one Shivalinga was installed by Lord Parasurama in the middle of Goshanti and the same was seen by Sapta Koti Rishi. So the Shivalingam called him Natta Rameswara Lingam.
Rathotsavam will be performed in a grand manner. Thousands of devotees visit this temple at this time. The importance of the temple has been mentioned in the Markandeya and Vayu Puranas. This temple received great patronage from the Eastern Chalukyas and many Siva temples were built in the region by King Sakti Varma of the Eastern Chalukya dynasty. This temple was rebuilt by Kuli Kutubhsha in 1583 AD.
Mahashivaratri, Karthika Pournami, Dasara, Gramotsavam and Rathosatvam are some important festivals celebrated here.

Natta Rameswaram Temple History:
As per the legends, Sri Rama installed the Linga here to get rid of the Dosha in Killing Demon King Ravana who is a Brahmin. Sri Rama reached West Godavari while on his way back to Ayodhya. He asked Anjaneya to bring Siva Linga from Kailash as time is lapsing, Sri Rama along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana made two Siva Lingas from the river Sand and worshipped the Idols. As these Idols were created with seashells (Natta) within, hence the name Natta Rama Lingeswara or Natta Rameswaram. Sage Jamadagni installed a Linga here. This Linga will be under the waters of River Gostani for 10 months in a year and will be available for Darshan only during Summer for 2 months i.e in Vaisakha Masam. Three Idols within this temple complex are Rama Lingeswara, Lakshmana Lingeswara and Jamadagni installed Linga. Parasurama did penance and performed Yajna here.
