According to Skanda Purana, Kaal Bhairav was born from Lord Siva’s wrath. Legend has it that when Brahma began writing the fifth Veda, the Devas expressed their concern that it might cause trouble. Despite Lord Siva’s request to stop, Brahma continued writing, prompting the emergence of Kaal Bhairav from Lord Siva’s anger. Kaal Bhairav removed Brahma’s fifth head, committing a sin that he later atoned for by performing penance for Lord Siva on the banks of the River Shipra, ultimately gaining relief. “Unusual Ritual at the Temple: Devotees Offer Liquor Bottles to the Deity”
A unique custom of this temple is that followers offer bottles of rum or whisky to the deity. The priest then pours the liquor onto a plate and presents it to the deity. Within a short while, the liquor disappears, and the priest returns the empty bottle and plate to the devotee.
