Vrindavan Shri Rangji Mandir Timings, History

Shri Ranganatha or Shri Rangji Mandir is a famous Vaishnava temple and the only temple built in the Dravidian style of architecture is located in Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Sri Rangji Mandir is dedicated to Sri Goda-Rangamannar. Goda or Andal was a famous 8th-century Vaishnava saint who had composed “Thiruppavai” which is a set of Tamil devotional religious hymns which focuses on her love for her beloved Sri Krishna and her Leela Bhoomi Vrindavan. She longs for him, fasts for him, sings songs in his praise, and wants to reach him by marrying him. Sri Ranganatha, who is none other than Sri Krishna, answers her prayers by becoming her bridegroom. At Sri Rangji Mandir, Sri Krishna is present as the bridegroom with a cane in his hand, as is the custom in a traditional South Indian wedding. Andal is to the right and Garuda is to his left.

Sri Rangji temple is one of the largest temples in all of northern India. It is one of the few temples in India where regular festivals are held and all traditions and rituals are performed according to prescribed Vedic standards. At SriRangji Temple, one would find a unique blend of South and North Indian traditions. Apart from celebrating all the festivals that are part of the Sri Vaishnava temple tradition of South India, various festivals that are part of the northern tradition are also celebrated here. For example, it is only in SriRangji temple that devotees can enjoy the pleasure of playing Holi with the Lord during Brahmotsava.
