On the beautiful evening of Thursday, Lord Malayappa Swamy, flanked by his two consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi from both sides, dazzled in Swarna Ratham and blessed the devotees.
The richness, majesty and grandeur of Lord Malyappa Swamy are clearly displayed in the brilliant golden procession of the car, Radharanga Dolotsavam. After taking solo walks in his favorite cars, Garuda and Hanumantha consecutively, the Lord took a colorful run with his two consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi at Swarna Ratham.
The three ornate deities of Pattu Vastrams and gems adorned with gold jewelery made a majestic walk to Swarna Ratham and the beauty of the powerful cart was improved as the rays of the sun had seen it.
Legends say that the practice of Rathotsavam began during the period of King Vijayanagara, Sri Krishnadevaraya, who had donated gold to the temple of Srivari. The practice continued even today in Brahmotsvam and other important festivals in Tirumala.
