16 February 2015 Tirupati: Lord Sri Kapileswara Swamy and his spouse Kamakshi Devi took a celestial ride on Kalpavriksha Vahanam on the morning of the seventh day of the ongoing Sri Kapila Theertham annual brahmotsavams on Monday.
legend say that Kalpavriksham is a wish-fulfilling divine tree which has the power to grant every wish to the humans. Its branches bore every kind of fruit and flower one wished for, and the apple of the tree was believed to have the virtue of conferring eternal life upon him or her who tasted it.
Scientifically known as Adansonia digitata-Baobab which can also be called the “Chemist Tree” is a tree whose average life is greater than 2500 years and is among the bushes that are historically used for health promoting effects. According to the Padma Purana, this tree is the ‘Parijatavriksha’ – Night-flowering Jasmine.
Lord Shiva who is also known as “Bhola Shankar”, one who provides boons to His with naivety, took experience on yet one more boon giving celestial tree Kalpavriksha.
DyEO Mr.Balaji, AEO Mr.Subramanyam, Temple Suptd Mr.Leelakrishna Reddy, Temple Inspector Mr.Srinivasulu and large number of devotees were present at the temple.
