26 January 2015 Tirumala: On monday in Tirumala Surya Jayanthi Annual Festival was celebrated with religious fervour.
As part of Surya Jayanthi Annual Festival this one day fete, lord Venkateswara in the form of Lord surya narayanamurthi colourfully decorated golden surya prabhakara vahanam took celestial journey alongside the 4 mada streets. The first Rays of the solar touched the lotus feet of Lord around 7.20 am. Tens of thousands of pilgrims who thronged to catch this rare glimpse chanted Govinda Nama loudly in chorus with ecstasy.
Lord was taken a divine ride on Chinna Sesha vahanam, and the most famous Garuda vahanam and Hanumantha vahanam after the surya prabha vahanam.
After completing the rides on four vahanams, the Sudarshana chakrattalwar was rendered holy bath in Swamy Pushkarini.
In the evening the processions spree commenced with kalapavruksha, followed by sarvabhoopala and concluded with Chandraprabha Vahanam.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Executive Officer Dr Sambasiva Rao, Joint Executive Officer Sri K.S.Sreenivasa Raju, Dy Executive Officer Sri Rama Rao, Temple Peishkar, Sri R.Selvam, Additional CVSO Sri Sivakumar Reddy and large number devotees took part.
