Moolam is the seventh day of the Onam festival that continues for ten consecutive days. Since only two days are left for the festival, enthusiasm grips the state of Kerala. Bright colours of the festivities can be seen in commercial areas of the state. There are shops loaded with goods so people jostle for a space. There is hustle and bustle everywhere since excited people do their last bit of shopping. Spirit of joy and happiness is apparent on the faces of millions of people of Kerala. People feel that time to meet their Onathappan has just come. A year long wait would soon be over. There would be people celebrating all over Kerala.
Pookalam is made in a new design with kondattam [gaiety] on this day. Most beautiful flowers are added to it. This Pookalam is for welcoming the spirit of King Maveli who is soon expected. There is mirth all over in the state of Kerala.
